Both God and Jesus Christ are minded to shield you in the same way a hen covers her chicks with her wings, yet you choose to consume chickens and egg products?! "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing," says Jesus (Matthew 23:37 NIV). Here, Jesus is echoing what His ancestor King David described about God: “He [God] shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust; His truth shall be thy shield and buckler" (Psalm 91:4 KJV).
Globally, roughly 60 billion innocent chickens are brutally murdered each year. In the UK alone, 1.1 billion guiltless chickens are slaughtered for flesh annually. In the egg industry, newly born absolutely innocent male chicks are usually atrociously murdered shortly after hatching because they cannot lay eggs and are not suitable for meat production. The most common methods include maceration (grinding), gassing, or suffocation. Globally, it is estimated that 7 billion male chicks are cruelly killed each year. In the UK, it's estimated that about 29-32 million male chicks are exterminated annually.
