According to Creation Care Church (2025), God intended milk to be produced by mothers for their own infant (note 1). The Infancy Gospel of James describes Jesus sucking milk from Saint Mary (cf. Luke 11:27); the mainstream Bible mentions jackals and other animals breastfeeding their own young (Lamentations 4:3), and speaks of a land brimming with milk and honey as a symbol of fertility and abundance (Exodus 3:8, 13:5). Yet this does not imply that humans should consume the milk of other species or eat honey.
Desiring what was not meant for us is covetousness, which is equated with idolatry (Ephesians 5:5). When we consume animal products like milk, cheese, cream, butter, and yogurt, we take what was meant for another—milk intended for an animal's baby, not for us. This actually amounts to a violation of the 10th Commandment, which forbids coveting what belongs to your neighbour (Exodus 20:15, 17; Matthew 19:18-19) (note 2). We should not follow this bad example. Instead, we have a wide range of vegan milk alternatives that are tastier and do not contain harmful hormones or cholesterol, such as oat, rice, almond, soy, cashew, flax, macadamia.

1. The title of this article is borrowed by the editor from PETA.
2. If you drink animals’ milk or manufacture animals’ milk, you are violating not only the 10th Commandment, but also the 6th Commandment, Thou shalt not kill, the 7th Commandment, Thou shalt not commit adultery, and the 8th Commandment, Thou shalt not steal! For in the dairy industry, farmers forcibly impregnate—that is, rape—dairy cows repeatedly, ensuring a continuous cycle of milk production for them to sell. When a dairy cow gives birth, her newborn calf is taken away—usually within 24 hours. Male dairy calves are considered worthless to the industry because they do not produce milk. Consequently, approximately 95,000 male dairy calves are murdered shortly after birth in the UK alone, typically by being shot in the head. This happens because they are unprofitable for milk production, and often not lucrative enough to be raised for beef. Female calves are kept alive to join the herd, where they too will be forcibly impregnated—raped—again and again. Ultimately, all dairy cows meet the same fate, sent to the slaughterhouse once their bodies are no longer profitable. The dairy industry is, therefore, meat industry or rape-and-murder industry.
