The OT prophets as well as Jesus ask us to serve God with all our heart and with all our soul (Deuteronomy 10:12; 1 Samuel 12:24; Matthew 4:10). But God already has everything; He owns the whole universe, both Heaven and Earth (Psalm 24:1; Deuteronomy 10:14). "For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills… for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof," states God (Psalm 50:10-12). Then how may we serve Him? What can we give Him? We can only serve Him by serving His creatures, because God loves the world (John 3:16), including ALL His creation (Psalm 145:9). That’s why Jesus says, “I came to serve, NOT to be served!” (Matthew 20:28). Note that the phrase “I came to serve” is not followed by any object, implying that Jesus aims at serving all sentient beings, not just humanity. So, for God’s sake, go vegan, NOW!
