“Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me!” 'says Jesus Christ (Matthew 25:40 New American Bible). “The least of these brothers” will, of course, include animals, as they are definitely the most downtrodden, abused, and tortured among our co-creatures. So, when you exploit or murder animals for food, labour, clothing, entertainment, etc., you are assaulting your inner Christ. Conversely, when you rescue and help these innocent creatures of God, you are honouring your inner Christ.
